Der Biologe leitet die Abteilung Pflanzenbiotechnologie an der Leibniz Universität in Hannover. Er hat als Co-Entdecker des TALE-Codes die Grundlage zur Entwicklung von TALEN gelegt, die den weltweiten Genome Editing Hype gestartet haben.
